Carbon monoxide (CO) reacts with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution at 160–200°C and 2 MPa pressure to form sodium formate (HCOONa). The product is then acidolyzed with sulfuric acid and distilled to obtain formic acid as the final product.
2. Process Flow Description:
This process uses coke as the raw material, which undergoes gasification, dust removal, washing, decarbonization, and further purification to obtain the required carbon monoxide (CO) gas. The CO is then heated, pressurized, and reacted with sodium hydroxide to produce sodium formate solution, which is subsequently evaporated, separated, and dried to yield solid sodium formate.
